Madikeri, Kodagu
A house on Stuart Hill
The house
A tiled-roof house with white walls and a red plinth, set behind a paved courtyard. Inside, long rosewood tables and benches, arched windows with dark wooden shutters, brass lamps, and red-oxide floors.
The hill
Stuart Hill sits above Madikeri, near Raja Seat. From the terrace the town falls away below and the ridges of Kodagu run to the horizon.

In the courtyard
A bus and a jeep
Two vehicles sit on the property. Neither is going anywhere, and both have become part of how people recognise the place.
A retired TATA bus stands in the courtyard, still lettered Shri Thalakauveri. An orange Mahindra parked alongside carries the Stone Hill name across its windscreen.

At the table
What comes out of the kitchen
A few of the plates, photographed at the house. Nothing here is styled or brought in.
